ThermoPlus Industries Inc. (TPII) was incorporated in Calgary,
Alberta, Canada in the summer of 1994 with the view to furthering the
development and manufacture of our very effective, highly portable,
extremely efficient and environmentally friendly ColdBuster portable
propane heaters. In addition, TPII wished to expand sales of its already
highly regarded line of Hi-Heat Multi-Purpose Torches.
With the 1998-99 commencement of production and the rapid growth in
sales of both the ColdBuster CTR-150 and the ColdBuster CTR-350, and,
with sales of the Hi-Heat Torches now increasing, we are very pleased to
state that we have accomplished all of our initial objectives and more.
Not only has the initial development of the CTR-150 accomplished our
stated primary goals, the further development and production of the
CTR-350 has provided our commercial and industrial customers with what
may well be regarded as being the most powerful hand-held portable
heater in the world.
The ColdBuster line of heaters has been subjected to a rigorous
program of testing conducted by CAS
International (CSA) on behalf of both the Canadian Gas Association
(CGA) and the American Gas
Association (AGA). As a result, both the CTR-150 and the CTR-350
have been approved and certified by both the CGA and the AGA. In
addition, TPII's production of ColdBuster portable propane heaters is
subject to a quarterly audit by the CSA in order to ensure the
ColdBuster's continued high standards of manufacture and performance.
The ColdBuster CTR-150 very effectively serves those customers, such
as Utility Service providers, Cable Telecommunications Service
providers, Light Construction Contractors, Cattle Ranchers, and Workshop
Operators, who have a temporary portable heat requirement which is very
important to the smooth operation of their businesses.
The ColdBuster CTR-350 provides service to customers whose temporary
heat requirements are more demanding and involve outdoor applications in
the coldest of weather conditions.
It has been selected for use in the field by resource companies such
as Suncor
Energy (Oil Sands), PanCanadian
Petroleum, Canadian Natural Resources Ltd., Alberta, Energy Company, Murphy Oil and Talisman Energy.
These companies have been using the ColdBuster CTR-350 to pre-heat
pump-jack motors, to thaw frozen valves, to thaw frozen air and fuel
lines, and on occasion, to pre-heat a frozen truck or piece of heavy
equipment.
Both the CTR-150 and the CTR-350 were chosen by the Canadian Civil Air Search
and Rescue Association for use, across Canada, to pre-heat aircraft
engines. The ColdBuster is being used by pilots from Fort Norman in
Canada's Northwest Territories to Mt. Pearl, Newfoundland on Canada's
east coast to provide quick and effective engine pre-heating.
The ColdBuster has a compact operating design and has been proven in
the field.
Testimonials
Aviation:
"We have been able to safely and quickly pre-heat our
helicopter engines.....We have also heated the interiors of these
helicopters in order to thaw out instrument panels.....Even in
extremely cold conditions, the helicopters can be ready for operation
in approximately 30 minutes. And, we have been very impressed by its
portability.....the ColdBuster is, most certainly, a light weight,
compact system, easily transported from site to site. You have a
very effective, easy to use and reasonably priced product in the
ColdBuster CTR-350."
- Dan Moyles, Director, Maintenance, Peace Helicopters Ltd.,
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
"After careful consideration, Civil Air Search And
Rescue Association (CASARA) purchased your heaters for the
following reasons: the fire chamber was made of stainless steel, and,
the price was competitive. CASARA members have used the heaters this
past winter from coast to coast and in the Territories and have found
the units to be very useful and as advertised. The heaters are used to
preheat aircraft engines, before start up, at low temperatures.
Comments received from members are positive."
- Jerry J. Mulder, Vice-President, Planning and Equipment, Canadian
Civil Air Search And Rescue Association
Oil And Gas:
"I don't know why we have these (other brand) heaters. They're
big and heavy and cost more money in a year to maintain than it would
cost to buy one of your units. The ColdBuster has virtually no
maintenance at all. We could pay for your unit in one day from the
additional revenue generated by using your heater. The ColdBuster is
so slick and is what I call first class, quality construction. The
portability of the unit is exceptional. I can carry it around in the
cab of my truck or take it out on a skidoo to service our well sites.
We work out here in a real hostile environment and if I had my way,
every man in the field would have his own ColdBuster unit."
- Doug Houston, Plant Operator, Alberta Energy company, Medicine
Hat, Alberta, Canada
" This is a thumbs up product. The ColdBuster did everything e
wanted it to do in terms of preheating our pumpjack motors. It
provided us with three definitive advantages: 1.) - Safety. It's
much safer to use than a torch. We don't want any open flames in our
sheds.....We're simply ducting in heated air. 2.) - Portability. It is
very portable.....it can very easily be moved from site to site by one
man. 3.) - Time. We could set the heater up at a site and then carry
on with other important business knowing we have a safe situation.
Is there a better product out there for doing what we need to get
done? Perhaps, but we think we've got it in the ColdBuster."
- Lawrence "Hoss" Malek, Senior Operator, Canadian
Natural Resources Ltd., Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada
Transportation:
"I've been 25 years in the transportation business and I am
totally impressed by the ColdBuster heater. It is a multi-functional,
pain saving device.....and the price is certainly right."
